GH named top agency for personal data protection for second consecutive year

Gyeonggi Housing and Urban Development Corporation, known as GH, received a commendation from the Personal Information Protection Commission on Wednesday at the sixth Personal Information Protection Day ceremony held at L Tower in Seoul, the corporation announced Thursday.

Hosted by the Personal Information Protection Commission under the theme "An AI Innovation Society Built on Trust," the ceremony drew about 350 participants, including honorees and officials from across the personal data protection sector.

The commendation recognizes institutions and individuals that have contributed to raising personal data protection standards and ensuring the safe management and use of personal information. Awards were presented by institutional category — including local public enterprises, national public enterprises and local governments — and GH was the only local public enterprise nationwide to receive the honor.

GH has established personal data protection as a core management priority, continuously strengthening its oversight framework across the entire data lifecycle — from collection and use to provision, storage and disposal. The corporation carries out protection activities across all areas, including policy development, implementation of security measures, employee training and awareness programs, compliance inspections and improvements, and responses to emerging technology environments.

GH had previously earned the top S rating in the Personal Information Protection Commission's assessment of personal data protection standards at public institutions, becoming the only entity among 165 local public enterprises nationwide to achieve that rating for two consecutive years.

GH President Kim Yong-jin said the corporation would "maintain the highest level of personal data protection that residents can trust and rely on with confidence," adding that the latest commendation follows its achievement as the only local public enterprise to earn an S rating for two consecutive years in the commission's assessment.
