Mapo-gu appointed actor and singer Kim Sung-hwan as its honorary ambassador Thursday morning at a ceremony held in the policy conference room on the ninth floor of the Mapo-gu district office.
Kim previously served as Mapo-gu's honorary ambassador from 2018 to 2022, during which he took part in promotional activities including the production of a Zero Pay campaign video.
With the new appointment renewing his ties to the district, Kim is expected to participate in a range of promotional activities, engage with residents and help raise awareness of Mapo-gu's appeal.
That day, Mapo-gu District Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun presented Kim with an appointment plaque and an honorary ambassador badge, expressing his delight at rekindling the relationship.
"Thank you for joining us again as Mapo-gu's honorary ambassador, following your time with us during the seventh elected term," Yoo said. "Having won the affection of so many people over the years through your performances, broadcasting work and other endeavors, I hope you will connect closely with our residents and bring warm energy and vitality to Mapo." He added that he hoped Kim would serve as a steadfast partner as the district moves toward a new chapter, helping to spread the word about Mapo's many charms.
