Kyochon F&B, the operator of Kyochon Chicken, said Friday it has opened a new store in a shopping mall near Taihu Lake, a major tourist destination in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province, China.
Wuxi is a tourist city home to Taihu Lake, one of China's three largest freshwater lakes. Reachable from Shanghai in under an hour by high-speed rail, it is a popular destination for travelers combining it with a Shanghai visit. The Wuxi store occupies 79 square meters inside a shopping mall frequented by young consumers near Taihu Lake.
The menu centers on Kyochon's three signature offerings — soy sauce, red and honey — alongside "dakgangjeong" (sweet fried chicken) and chicken skewers tailored to local tastes. "We plan to leverage the shopping mall's advantage as a high-traffic location to expand our reach among both local consumers and tourists at the same time, while building brand recognition in the area," a company official said.
Kyochon plans to use the Wuxi opening as a springboard to expand into other major Chinese cities. The brand opened its first China store in Shenzhen in February last year and is preparing to open a second location there. Kyochon said it will consistently grow its presence in the Chinese market. The company currently operates globally across the United States, China, Malaysia, Indonesia, Taiwan and the United Arab Emirates.
