BYD Korea announced Friday that it will serve as the official vehicle sponsor of SMTOWN RUN CLUB 26, to be held Saturday at Wangsan Marina in Incheon's Yeongjongdo.
SMTOWN RUN CLUB 26 is SM Entertainment's first running festival, offering participants a mix of running, experience zones, photo zones and special performances. The event combines running and music to deliver sport and entertainment in a single venue.
BYD Korea said it will showcase its electrification technology and vehicles up close to participants, offering a brand experience tied to diverse everyday lifestyles.
The Sea Lion 6 DM-i — which began customer deliveries in late August — will serve as the lead car for the race, guiding participants along the course. A Sea Lion 6 DM-i will also be on display at the BYD booth inside the venue, giving participants a chance to inspect and experience the vehicle firsthand.
The Sea Lion 6 DM-i is a midsize SUV equipped with BYD's plug-in hybrid technology, DM-i (Dual Mode-intelligent). It delivers a quiet, comfortable driving experience similar to a full electric vehicle in everyday use, while allowing the engine to take over on longer trips — making it adaptable to a wide range of driving conditions.
"Cars are becoming more than just a means of transportation — they are becoming part of consumers' lifestyles, whether that involves music, exercise, rest or travel," a BYD Korea official said. "BYD is working to become a brand that connects naturally with consumers across those different lifestyles, and we will continue to create touchpoints through various cultural events where more customers can engage with and experience the brand directly."
Meanwhile, BYD Korea has been running a range of marketing activities aimed at improving customer convenience and service competitiveness, including a vehicle safety inspection campaign held over six days at 20 BYD Auto service centers nationwide during the recent Chuseok holiday.
