Mapo-gu District Mayor Yoo Dong-kyun attended the 2026 Senior Citizens' Day ceremony held Friday morning at Woori Mapo Welfare Center, expressing gratitude and respect to the district's elderly residents.
Marking the 30th Senior Citizens' Day, the event drew about 900 local seniors and residents. The program included commendations for those who have contributed to senior welfare, celebratory performances and hands-on activity booths.
Yoo presented citations to 22 people, including exemplary seniors and individuals recognized for their contributions to senior welfare, thanking them for their dedication and service. He also greeted seniors in attendance and toured the outdoor activity booths.
"Mapo is what it is today because of the sweat, effort and love that our seniors poured into their families and neighbors," Yoo said. "I will listen closely to each and every senior's voice and work harder to build a Mapo where seniors are respected and happy."
