Toyota Korea said Friday it participated in an automotive safety rescue seminar for firefighters held at the Podium Mall plaza in front of Signiel LCT in Haeundae, Busan, providing vehicle information and on-site training to about 100 firefighters from across the country on safe rescue operations at electric vehicle accident scenes.
The seminar was organized by the Korea Transportation Safety Authority's Automotive Safety Research Institute (KATRI) amid the growing spread of electrified vehicles. It was designed to help firefighters better understand the characteristics and safety information of individual vehicle models so they can carry out rescue operations more safely and swiftly at electric vehicle accidents and emergency scenes.
Toyota Korea contributed one Lexus all-electric RZ 450e and technical training personnel to the seminar. A Toyota Korea technical training instructor used the vehicle to walk participants through key safety information needed for real rescue operations, covering precautions related to the high-voltage system in the event of an electric vehicle accident, methods for shutting down the high-voltage system, the location and characteristics of major high-voltage components, and key precautions when approaching and cutting into a damaged vehicle.
Attending firefighters examined the RZ 450e set up outdoors, confirming the locations of the high-voltage system and major components, and reviewing the procedures and precautions needed to safely approach a vehicle and carry out rescue work in the event of an accident.
"We joined this training session to provide practical help so that firefighters can carry out rescue operations more safely at electric vehicle accident scenes," said Lee Byung-jin, executive vice president of Toyota Korea. "We will continue to actively share vehicle and technical information and work together to support safe rescue operations in the field."
A total of 11 automakers took part in the seminar alongside Toyota Korea, including BMW, Kia, Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Audi, Woojin Industrial Systems, Zeekr, Tesla, Volkswagen and Hyundai Motor, each sharing safety rescue information specific to their vehicles.
Meanwhile, Toyota Korea has been running a range of marketing activities to enhance customer convenience and service competitiveness, including a "2026 Lexus·Toyota Holiday Safe Service Campaign" held at official Lexus and Toyota service centers nationwide ahead of the recent Chuseok holiday.
