Mapo-gu District Mayor Yoo Dong-kyun appointed comedian Yun Taek, singer Lee Sung-woo and dance crew Proudmon as honorary ambassadors for the district at a ceremony held Friday afternoon in a conference room on the ninth floor of the Mapo-gu office.
Yun, newly named as an ambassador, has been connecting with the public through his warm and lighthearted persona on MBN's "Naneun Jayeoninida (I Am a Nature Man)" and on YouTube. Lee, the lead vocalist of No Brain, has long been a fixture of the indie and rock music scene centered on Hongdae. Proudmon has built a following through its distinctive performances and wide-ranging broadcast and stage work, including an appearance on Mnet's "Street Woman Fighter."
District Mayor Yoo presented each of the three acts with an appointment plaque and an ambassador badge, then exchanged remarks about their upcoming activities and expressed enthusiasm for the new partnership.
"Yun Taek's warm and playful charm, Lee Sung-woo's passion as a representative of Hongdae's indie music scene, and Proudmon's youthful, dynamic energy all capture the diversity and vitality of Mapo," Yoo said. "I hope each of you will draw on your own unique character to share Mapo's many attractions with as many people as possible."
With Yun, Lee and Proudmon now on board, the district's ambassador lineup has grown considerably more diverse, joining existing ambassadors Ha Ha, Byul and Kim Sung-hwan.
The three acts are expected to promote Mapo in a variety of ways, each drawing on their own distinct personality and appeal.
