Leaked data includes names, student IDs, dates of birth and contact details
Personal information belonging to students and faculty at Seoul Cyber University has been leaked.
The university said it received a notification from the Korea Internet & Security Agency (KISA) on Sunday that data believed to contain members' personal information had been posted on an external website.
The leaked data includes names, student ID numbers, dates of birth, contact details, email addresses, home addresses, academic departments, enrollment status, and admission and academic history records. However, resident registration numbers, passwords and bank account numbers were stored in encrypted form and are believed not to have been decrypted.
Seoul Cyber University has formed an emergency task force and reported the incident to the relevant authorities. It is working to determine the exact cause of the breach and to prevent further damage.
"If the investigation confirms that information has been leaked, we will notify the affected individuals accordingly," the university said.
