The city of Pohang in North Gyeongsang Province will hold the 2026 Pohang Marine Corps Culture Festival from Nov. 14 to Nov. 15 along Haemyeong Street in Ocheon-eup, Nam-gu, and at the Marine Corps 1st Division, the city announced Tuesday.
This year's festival will be run through a civilian-government-military partnership involving the city of Pohang, the North Gyeongsang chapter and Pohang branch of the Marine Corps Veterans Association, and the Marine Corps 1st Division.
Particularly notable this year, the Marine Corps 1st Division will open its base to the public, giving visitors a rare opportunity to see and experience Marine Corps equipment and culture up close.
Inside the base, the festival will feature equipment displays and hands-on activity programs.
At the same time, a food market and experience booths will be set up along Haemyeong Street near the Seomun intersection, with a military parade adding to the festive atmosphere.
The program will also include a Marine Corps demonstration performance and a civilian-government-military harmony march, offering visitors a sense of Marine Corps identity, alongside family-friendly activities such as combat fitness challenges.
Pohang Mayor Park Yong-seon said he would "carefully review all arrangements to ensure the festival helps revitalize the local commercial district and draws visitors who stay longer for tourism."
