Hwang Jung-eum, raising two sons after divorce, says she'd go back to 2015 — before her marriage

Actor Hwang Jung-eum said in a fan Q&A that if she could turn back time, she would return to 2015 — before her marriage.

On Monday, Hwang posted on Instagram announcing a Q&A session for her YouTube subscribers. "It's already been five months since I started my YouTube channel," she wrote. "I want to have a chat-style Q&A to thank the 'Hwanggeum-i' who visit my channel and stay with me — please feel free to ask me anything you've been curious about." "Hwanggeum-i" is the nickname for subscribers to her YouTube channel.

When a fan asked what point in time she would most want to return to, Hwang replied simply, "Before my marriage. 2015." That year was before she married Lee Young-don, a former professional golfer turned businessman.

Asked about her favorite activity with her two sons, she said "climbing Namsan with the kids." When asked what she would put in a "small happiness set" for herself, she named "good weather and healthy food."

As something she recently discovered about herself, she said she learned that "plain, understated clothes suit me well." Her favorite travel destination, she said, was the Dolomites in Italy.

Hwang married Lee in 2016 and gave birth to their first son the following year. She filed for divorce mediation in 2020 but reconciled with Lee the next year, and the couple had a second son in 2022. In February 2024, a court-mediated divorce settlement was finalized, legally ending the marriage. Hwang is currently raising both sons on her own.
