A blood donation bus will run from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. — open to anyone who wishes to donate. Help ease the post-holiday blood shortage by bringing your ID and joining on-site.
Guro-gu will hold a "Blood Donation with Love" event at the Guro District Office plaza on Thursday.
The event was organized to address the declining pool of eligible donors due to the low birth rate and aging population, and to promote a culture of life-saving generosity. With blood supply difficulties expected after the holiday season, the district is urging employees and residents to participate actively.
A blood donation bus will operate from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. that day, with a break from noon to 1 p.m. for lunch; morning registration closes at 11:30 a.m. The event is open not only to staff from the district office, public health center and community service centers, but to anyone who wishes to donate.
Participants should bring a valid ID and will undergo an on-site health questionnaire and eligibility screening before donating. Donors will receive a blood donation certificate and a commemorative gift, and can check their blood type and health indicators — including hepatitis B and C and liver function — through their test results.
"Donating blood is an act of sharing that can help save precious lives with just a short commitment of your time," Guro-gu District Mayor Jang In-hong said. "We ask for your attention and participation to help ensure a stable blood supply."
