A hypermarket shopper's decision to leave a shopping cart blocking a neighboring vehicle's door has sparked debate online.
A post on the social media platform Threads on Monday included a photo taken in what appeared to be a hypermarket parking lot, calling out the behavior.
The photo shows a single shopping cart left wedged between a parked car and a pillar directly beside it.
The cart was positioned so close to the adjacent parking space that it appeared nearly impossible for occupants of the neighboring vehicle to open their door or get in.
The person who posted the photo expressed frustration, writing, "I can't understand why people leave carts like that just for their own convenience, making it impossible for others to open their car doors." They added, "Isn't it just basic common sense to return a cart to the cart rack? I never do that, so I really can't understand the mindset of people who do."
Once the post went public, other users chimed in to criticize the inconsiderate behavior.
Responses included comments such as "I've seen people push a cart in front of someone else's car and just drive off," "Some people unload their bags and leave the cart right in the middle of a parking space," and "There are cart return stations scattered throughout the lot — why leave it like that just to avoid walking a few extra steps?"
