Top professional billiards players Cho Jae-ho, Kang Dong-kung and David Martinez advanced through the opening round of the fourth tour event of the season.
Cho, competing under NH NongHyup Card, defeated Lim Taek-dong 3-0 in the round of 128 of the Crown Haitai PBA-LPBA Championship, the season's fourth tour event, held Tuesday at the PBA Stadium in Goyang Kintex, Goyang, Gyeonggi Province. In the second set, Cho trailed 11-14 before sinking two bank shots to complete a 15-14 comeback.
Kang, of Huons, overpowered Kim Kyung-min 3-1, powered by two high runs of eight points. Martinez, representing Spain and Crown Haitai, split the first four sets 2-2 with Gu Min-su before winning the shootout 2-0 to join the round of 64.
Lee Chung-bok of High1 Resort swept Japan's Hideaki Kobayashi 3-0, while defending champion Eddie Leppens of Belgium, also of High1 Resort, dispatched Kim Jeong-ho 3-0. Jo Geon-hwi of Welcome Savings Bank, winner of the season-opening tour event, beat Jang Byeong-dae 3-1.
In the LPBA draw, Kim Ga-young of Hana Card routed Jeon Eo-ram 3-0 to reach the round of 16. Jeong Su-bin of NH NongHyup Card, Kang Yu-jin, Japan's Hida Orie, Kang Ji-eun and Kim Jin-a of Hana Card also secured spots in the round of 16.
The round of 128 in the PBA draw continues Wednesday from 12:30 p.m., with the LPBA round of 32 scheduled for 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.
