Black emblems, 19-inch matte wheels added
S trim gains standard power passenger seat
Camel interior color expanded to Exclusive trim
Gasoline from 28.76 million won, hybrid from 33.28 million won
Hyundai Motor has released a model-year update of its mid-size Sonata sedan, adding a new Black N Line trim that emphasizes dark design elements throughout.
The company said Wednesday it launched the 2027 Sonata The Edge and began taking orders.
The biggest change in this model-year update is the introduction of the design-focused Black N Line trim. Based on the Inspiration trim, it builds on the existing N Line's sporty exterior by layering black accents across the vehicle.
The Hyundai emblems on the front and rear, along with the model-name lettering, are finished in black, and 19-inch matte black wheels are fitted as standard. The N Line's signature sporty styling combined with the all-black treatment gives the trim a visually distinct look from the rest of the lineup.
Convenience features on existing trims have also been updated. The S trim now comes standard with a four-way power passenger seat. It also includes a relaxation comfort function that allows the passenger seat to recline further, as well as a walk-in device that lets the driver adjust the passenger seat position from behind the wheel.
The best-selling Exclusive trim gains a new "camel" interior color option — a shade previously available only on the higher-end Inspiration trim.
Pricing for the Smartstream gasoline 2.0 model starts at 28.76 million won ($21,200) for the Premium trim, with the S at 30.28 million won, the Exclusive at 33.21 million won and the Inspiration at 36.15 million won. The newly added Black N Line is priced at 36.75 million won.
The 1.6 turbo model starts at 29.43 million won for the Premium trim, followed by the S at 30.95 million won, the Exclusive at 33.88 million won and the Inspiration at 36.81 million won. The Black N Line in this variant is set at 37.41 million won.
The gasoline 2.5 turbo N Line, which pairs high-performance design with enhanced driving capability, is priced at 39.41 million won.
Hybrid prices, after tax incentives, start at 33.28 million won for the Premium, with the S at 34.5 million won, the Exclusive at 37.42 million won and the Inspiration at 40.52 million won.
The hybrid Black N Line is priced at 42.12 million won before tax incentives. Hyundai Motor said it will announce the final post-incentive price separately once the eco-friendly vehicle designation process is complete.
Hyundai Motor will hold a draw among 100 customers who place an order for the 2027 Sonata The Edge Black N Line this month and take delivery by the end of next month, with winners receiving an N Diffuser Kit car fragrance set.
"The 2027 Sonata The Edge will offer customers a wider range of choices by expanding preferred features and adding the Black N Line with its exclusive design elements," a Hyundai Motor official said. "We will continue working to deliver products that reflect the diverse lifestyles and tastes of our customers."
