Korea Gas Corporation announced Wednesday that it has officially launched an "Information Asset-Based AX Promotion Task Force" to accelerate AI transformation in the natural gas sector by combining the company's information assets — including operational knowledge and data — with AI technology, while overhauling its work processes.
The task force was established to systematically assess the information assets the company holds, including operational knowledge, data and systems, and to generate tangible improvements in how work is carried out by integrating those assets with AI technology.
Korea Gas Corporation said it aims to build a company-wide AI transformation framework that goes beyond simply adopting AI tools, pursuing simultaneous changes to work practices and organizational culture.
The task force operates under the direct leadership of the CEO, with the executive vice president for management overseeing day-to-day activities. It brings together frontline staff and decision-making managers from key areas including planning, marketing, safety, production, supply and information technology. The group will analyze the current state of the company's information assets, review information security and access management systems, identify business processes suitable for AI application, select priority initiatives, and oversee AI capability building and performance management.
As its first activity, the task force rolled out tailored AI transformation training by rank and job function, aimed at deepening employees' understanding and practical skills so that AI adoption translates into real improvements on the job.
On Thursday, the task force held a training session for its members and AI officers on "Organizational Culture Improvements and Case Studies for Accelerating AI Transformation." The following day, it hosted a special lecture and discussion forum for about 100 executives and senior managers on the theme of "New Leadership Competencies in the AI Era."
President Hong Eui-rak said AI transformation "is not simply a matter of adopting new technology, but a process of innovating the way we work by combining the information assets and expertise Korea Gas Corporation has built up over the years with AI." He added that the company would "continue to generate AI transformation results that employees can feel on the ground, raising the stability and safety of natural gas supply."
