BTS kicks off Peru leg of 'Arirang' world tour as Lima street renamed in group's honor

BTS will perform at Estadio San Marcos in Lima, Peru on Wednesday and Friday through Saturday as part of its world tour "Arirang," agency Big Hit Music said.

It marks the group's first visit to Peru since its debut in 2013.

To commemorate the concerts, Lima has designated an "Avenida BTS" (BTS Boulevard) in the capital.

According to Yonhap, the district of Santiago de Surco will temporarily rename Sacramento Street in the Surco area "Avenida BTS" from Monday through Sunday and has installed signs announcing the designation.

Elsewhere in central Lima, several landmarks have been dressed up to welcome the members.

The Arco Morisco, the signature structure of Surco's Friendship Park, was lit up in BTS's signature purple on Monday and will stage a nightly light show in the group's honor through Sunday.

The Magic Water Circuit fountain at another Lima landmark, the Parque de la Reserva, will host a BTS-themed event featuring music, lights and a water-screen display over the same period.

Peru's official tourism website, "Peru Travel," highlighted the Lima concerts as an opportunity to showcase the country's cuisine, culture and natural scenery.

BTS launched its South American tour Friday and Saturday at Estadio El Campín in Bogotá, Colombia, drawing roughly 100,000 fans over two nights.

Spanish-language outlet Rolling Stone en Español called the Bogotá show "the most anticipated concert of an entire generation," adding that "BTS met expectations and, in many moments, exceeded them."

Meanwhile, BTS released a new episode of "Run BTS 2.0" on Tuesday through the group's official YouTube channel and fan platform Weverse, showing the members enjoying an autumn picnic in Toronto during their world tour stop there.
