Mobility platform Tada recognized for pure Korean brand name
'Tada' captures the essence of its service — 'to get in a car and go'
Launched in October 2018, the platform now has 4.7 million cumulative users
Mobility platform Tada has received the National Institute of Korean Language Director's Award for intuitively capturing the nature of its transportation service through the everyday Korean expression "tada" — meaning "to get in a car."
VCNC, the company behind Tada, announced Thursday that the brand had been named a "jeongdaun trademark" — the National Institute of Korean Language Director's Award — at the 11th Beautiful Korean Language Brand Contest.
"Tada" is a pure Korean word meaning to board a vehicle and travel. The brand was recognized for being short, easy to pronounce and immediately understandable to anyone, while naturally conveying the character of a mobility service.
The Beautiful Korean Language Brand Contest was established to promote the beauty and excellence of hangul and to encourage the use of Korean-language brand names. It is hosted by the Intellectual Property Office and sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the National Institute of Korean Language and the Korea Intellectual Property Protection Agency. Entries are evaluated on criteria including linguistic correctness, use of native Korean vocabulary and ease of comprehension.
Tada launched in October 2018 and is now in its eighth year of service. According to the company's website, it has 4.7 million cumulative users and 200,000 monthly active users.
"It is especially meaningful to have the intuitiveness of the name 'Tada' and its value as a Korean-language brand recognized just ahead of Hangul Day," a company official said. "We will continue to deliver a differentiated travel experience worthy of the name 'Tada' through a mobility service that anyone can use with ease and comfort."
