Kamode-S, Ionkares, Gwangwoo strike deals in Vietnam, Indonesia
Uiwang announced Thursday that a trade mission it dispatched to Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, and Jakarta, Indonesia, from Sept. 28 to Oct. 2 generated 40 export consultations worth a combined $3.8 million and resulted in four MOUs.
The Southeast Asia trade mission was organized to help local small and medium-sized enterprises expand their export channels. Participating companies received support that included local buyer identification and matching, professional interpretation services, and export consultation sessions.
Three Uiwang-based companies — Kamode-S, Ionkares and Gwangwoo — took part in the program, conducting one-on-one export consultations with local buyers. As a result, 22 consultations worth $3.2 million were held in Vietnam, while 18 consultations worth $600,000 took place in Indonesia.
The mission went beyond gauging market potential, securing concrete partnerships as well. In Vietnam, Gwangwoo and Ionkares each signed an MOU with a local company, while in Indonesia, Kamode-S signed MOUs with two local firms.
The participating companies used the buyer consultations to assess the competitiveness of their products in overseas markets and to gauge local demand and entry prospects firsthand. They plan to continue follow-up discussions stemming from the on-site MOUs, with the aim of converting them into concrete trade and export contracts.
"We will actively support companies in their follow-up efforts so that the buyer consultations and MOUs from this trade mission translate into tangible export results," Uiwang Mayor Kim Seong-je said. "We will continue to provide diverse support so that local small and medium-sized enterprises can find new opportunities and broaden their export channels in overseas markets."
