Haha reveals why he wears sunglasses on variety shows: 'I can't see'

Broadcaster Haha has opened up about his struggles with presbyopia and hair loss.

A video titled "The endless sibling war between bright-eyed (?) Jiwon and grumpy Haha" was uploaded Thursday to the YouTube channel "26hakbeon Jiwoni."

During the video, Ha Ji-won asked Haha whether there was a particular reason he had started paying more attention to his health, to which he replied, "Things that used to work started not working anymore."

He then confessed the real reason he wears sunglasses while filming variety shows. "It's not about looking cool — I can't see," he said, visibly surprising Ha Ji-won.

"When light hits, the glare makes it hard to see," he continued. "I'm revealing this here for the first time. I felt like I couldn't put it off any longer, so I went to an optician, and they told me carefully — it was presbyopia."

Haha also pulled out his hair-loss medication, adding that to his list of health concerns, before calling out to Ha Ji-won, "Sis, let's stay healthy" — drawing laughter from those present.
