North Gyeongsang Province has appointed Park Sang-hyun, its former Seoul bureau chief, as its new spokesperson.
Governor Lee Cheol-woo presented Park with his appointment certificate at the provincial government office on Wednesday.
Park, a Daegu native born in 1967, graduated from Daegu High School and Kyungpook National University before earning a master's degree in international business administration from Korea University and a doctorate in political science and diplomacy from Yeungnam University.
He served as chief of staff to Assembly member Yun Yeong-tak in 1993 and later held the post of vice president for external affairs at Daegyeong University.
From September 2022 through August this year — a tenure of roughly four years — Park served as the province's Seoul bureau chief, leading efforts to resolve policy issues and manage external cooperation with the National Assembly and the central government.
"I will ensure that the spokesperson's office is judged not by press releases or the volume of news coverage, but by tangible changes in North Gyeongsang Province — attracting businesses, drawing investment, securing national funding and increasing tourist numbers," Park said.
