The Pohang City Council in North Gyeongsang Province announced Friday that it will hold its 334th first regular session from Monday through Oct. 30.
During the session, the council will conduct administrative audits and policy questions, and is set to handle 28 agenda items, including approval of revenue and expenditure settlement accounts for fiscal year 2025.
Key items under review include an ordinance on establishing and operating a rapid-response unit for everyday civil complaints, sponsored by lawmaker Choi Gwang-yeol, and a partial amendment to the ordinance on a special account for nuclear power plant local resource facility taxes, sponsored by lawmaker Kim Yeong-heon.
The session opens Monday with an opening ceremony and the first plenary meeting, followed by standing committee reviews of ordinances and a preliminary audit of the fiscal year 2025 settlement accounts from Tuesday through Oct. 16. The Budget and Settlement Special Committee will then conduct its own settlement review on Oct. 19.
Standing committees will carry out administrative audits from Oct. 20 to Oct. 27, followed by policy question sessions from Oct. 28 to Oct. 29. The session will conclude at the fourth plenary meeting on Oct. 30, where the council will adopt the fiscal year 2025 revenue and expenditure settlement approval and the administrative audit results report, among other items.
Meanwhile, the council will hold a confirmation hearing for the head of a Pohang city agency for the first time since the council was established.
As the Pohang mayor is scheduled to submit a confirmation hearing request for a candidate for chairman of the Pohang Facilities Management Corporation on Monday, the council will appoint members of a special confirmation hearing committee at the first plenary meeting that day. The committee will then comprehensively assess the candidate's qualifications, expertise and ability to perform the duties of the position.
