Comedian Kim In-seok, 46, has revealed that he and his wife Angela Park, 40, divorced two years ago, in what would have been their 10th year of marriage.
Kim announced the news Friday on SNS, writing that he wanted to share a personal update with those who had supported him. "About two years ago, I came to accept the decision that we should each go our own way and bring our time together as a couple to a close," he said.
He added that while their marriage had ended, he and Park would remain committed parents. "Although our bond as a couple ends here, I will do my very best for our children without fail and continue to be a good parent alongside her," he said.
Kim said he had spent a long time thinking about how to share the news. "I also needed time to come to terms with this reality and sort through my feelings — that is why I am only speaking about it now," he said.
He said that though the period had not been easy, he was ready to move forward. "There were difficult moments, but I have worked through them and am now ready for a new beginning," he said. "I will do my best to show a better, happier side of myself going forward."
Kim also apologized to those close to him who were hearing the news for the first time through his post. "I was not able to tell even those nearest to me in advance," he said. "To my family, relatives and close friends who are learning of this through this post, I am truly sorry."
Kim made his debut in 2001 as a KBS 16th-class comedian and went on to appear on the KBS 2TV program "Gag Concert." In 2014, he married Angela Park — six years his junior and a Miss Korea Hawaii title winner — and the couple have two sons together.
In September 2023, Kim appeared on a YouTube channel and said he had been living alone in South Korea as a "goose father" while Angela Park and their two sons stayed in Hawaii.
Kim did not disclose the specific reasons for the divorce.
