Teen arrested at playground after citizen spots weapon protruding from pocket

A teenager was arrested after being spotted wandering through a playground in Jeonju while carrying a bladed weapon. The suspect had not drawn or brandished the weapon, but a citizen who noticed it protruding from his pocket called police, who responded to the scene.

According to the North Jeolla Province Police Agency, the Jeonju Wansan Police Station is investigating the suspect, identified only as A, on charges including carrying a bladed weapon in a public place.

A is accused of roaming a playground in Wansan-gu, Jeonju, with a bladed weapon in his pocket at around 5 p.m. Wednesday.

Officers who responded to a citizen's report of a weapon visibly protruding from the suspect's pocket arrested A at the scene.

Police determined through their investigation that A had not drawn or brandished the weapon at the time.

"As the matter is under investigation, we cannot confirm the details," a police official said.
