Actor Yun So-hee hit with hateful comments amid controversy over YouTuber Park Wi's family

Actor Yun So-hee, known as the adopted daughter of YouTuber Park Wi's family, has been caught in the crossfire of allegations that the family treated Park Wi's wife, singer Song Ji-eun of the group Secret, unfairly.

A video titled "First Chuseok at the In-Laws," which Park Wi posted to his YouTube channel in September 2024, has recently resurfaced online and drawn renewed scrutiny.

The video shows Song Ji-eun celebrating chuseok with Park Wi's family, and also features Park Wi's father, producer Park Chan-hong, and Yun So-hee, who is known as Park Chan-hong's adopted daughter.

What sparked the controversy was how the family appeared to treat Song Ji-eun and Yun So-hee differently.

In the video, Park Wi mentioned Yun So-hee before Song Ji-eun while saying grace before the meal. Viewers also noticed that Park Wi's parents, Park Wi and Yun So-hee each used matching tableware sets, while Song Ji-eun used a different set.

Some online users said the family appeared to show more care toward Yun So-hee, the adopted daughter, than toward Song Ji-eun, the daughter-in-law.

Some users went to Yun So-hee's social media accounts and left hateful comments.

Her posts were flooded with remarks referencing the video, including "Would anyone with common sense have gone to Park Wi's house?", "Read the room" and "This is bizarre." The comments ranged from questions about her relationship with the family to criticism directed at her for attending the holiday gathering.

Questions also piled up over the term "adopted daughter." Commenters asked, "How does one become an adopted daughter?", "So is she Park Wi's older sister or younger sister?" and "Is she his sister-in-law?"

Yun So-hee is not Park Wi's biological sister. She is an actor who built a close relationship with Director Park Chan-hong through the tvN drama series "Memory."

The controversy emerged after past content came under renewed scrutiny following criticism Park Wi faced in August over a video he posted of a fall he suffered on a KTX train.

On Aug. 21, Park Wi posted CCTV footage on his YouTube channel showing his wheelchair tipping over after a social service worker's foot caught the wheel as he was getting off a KTX train. He later drew criticism for releasing the video without including footage of the worker's apology.

Park Wi apologized, saying he "had not considered the position of the worker who had done his best to help me and apologized sincerely," and announced he would suspend his YouTube activities. Scheduled lectures were subsequently canceled, and he stepped down from his role as a Seoul Metropolitan Government promotional ambassador.

Meanwhile, Park Wi and Song Ji-eun married in October 2024. The couple had shared their daily lives through YouTube and television appearances.
