Fashion, performances and food meet small-business support at Mokdong Rodeo this fall
Singers Bae Ki-sung and Chae Yeon headline; runway fashion show and youth pop-up zone among highlights
Yangcheon-gu will hold the 30th Mokdong Rodeo Fashion Street Culture Festival on Saturday along Mokdong-ro 25-gil from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Now in its 30th year, the festival is a signature local commercial-district event centered on fashion — the hallmark of the Mokdong Rodeo shopping area — bringing together performances, food and hands-on experiences in one place.
The main stage will be anchored by the Mokdong Rodeo Runway Fashion Show, with 10 shops along the strip sponsoring outfits and Yangcheon-gu's promotional models and senior models from local welfare centers taking to the runway to showcase the district's commercial charm. Starting at 6:30 p.m., invited singers Bae Ki-sung and Chae Yeon will perform to close out the day on a high note.
Throughout the festival grounds, visitors can take part in hands-on workshops — including natural leather bag making and wooden flower tray crafting — while street performances and photo zones add to the festive atmosphere.
This year, the number of food booths has been expanded to 20, offering a wide range of options including food trucks, craft beer, makgeolli, cafes and desserts, giving visitors plenty of reasons to linger and enjoy the performances and activities at their own pace.
Special events marking the 30th edition are also planned, with on-site programs open to all — including roulette and games — designed to boost participation and celebrate the milestone together.
New this year, the festival has broadened its scope with a "small-business solidarity" program aimed at expanding sales channels for young entrepreneurs and promoting local gift vouchers. A youth pop-up zone, tied to the district's Yangcheon Youth Pop-up Day program, will let young startup founders showcase their products directly, while artists and cultural practitioners will have space to exhibit and demonstrate their work — bringing together fashion, cosmetics, snacks and other distinctive products under one roof.
New support and promotional programs for local small-business owners have also been added. A mobile small-business consultation service, run in partnership with the Seoul Credit Guarantee Foundation's Yangcheon General Support Center, will be on hand, and a local gift voucher information booth will offer easy-to-follow guidance on how to use Yangcheon Love Gift Vouchers and Yangcheon Ddaenggyeoyo Gift Vouchers and what benefits they offer.
"I hope the 30th Mokdong Rodeo Fashion Street Culture Festival goes beyond being a celebration for residents and merchants to become a platform for mutual growth that opens new doors for local small-business owners and young people," Yangcheon-gu District Mayor Lee Gi-jae said. "With fashion, performances, food and hands-on experiences all coming together, I hope many residents will come out to Mokdong Rodeo and have a wonderful time."
