Man in his 70s arrested on attempted murder charges after striking wife on head with rock during argument

A man in his 70s has been arrested after striking his wife on the head with a rock following an argument.

According to Yonhap, the Suwon Paldal Police Station arrested the man, identified only as A, on attempted murder charges and is investigating the case.

A is accused of repeatedly striking his wife, a woman in her 70s identified as B, on the head with a rock on a street in front of a lodging establishment in Maesan-dong, Paldal-gu, Suwon, on Sunday morning.

A, who runs the lodging business, picked up a rock from the roadside and attacked B during their argument. Police arrived after a witness called in the incident and arrested A at the scene.

B sustained injuries to her head but is not in critical condition.

Police initially arrested A on charges of aggravated assault but upgraded the charge to attempted murder during the investigation after determining the attack had been severe enough to threaten the victim's life.

Meanwhile, A has a prior record of multiple domestic violence reports filed against him.
