Former Daegu city official An Jung-gon named deputy head of Daegu Policy Research Institute

The Daegu Policy Research Institute announced Monday that it has appointed An Jung-gon, a former head of the city's administration bureau, as its deputy head.

An passed the local higher civil service examination in 2003 and has since built a broad administrative career, serving as director of Daegu's economy bureau and administration bureau, as well as working at the Korean Consulate General in New York.

In his new role, An will oversee the institute's research and management operations and work to strengthen policy cooperation and communication with the Daegu city government.

"Drawing on my understanding of and experience in city administration, I will strive to foster close cooperation between the institute and the city of Daegu, and to ensure that research outcomes translate into tangible policy," An said.
