US president to visit China for APEC summit in November
Gives positive response when asked about possible meeting with North Korean leader
US President Donald Trump said Monday he might meet North Korean leader Kim Jong-un during his upcoming trip to Asia next month.
Speaking with reporters at the White House that day, Trump was asked whether he planned to meet Kim during his Asia visit and replied, "I might."
Trump is set to travel to China for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation summit, which runs Nov. 18-19 in Shenzhen. Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping agreed at their White House meeting last month to work together to make the summit a success. Trump has repeatedly expressed his desire to meet Kim this year, and observers believe he likely conveyed to Xi at their summit his hope that the Chinese leader would help facilitate such a meeting.
