Gunwi-gun to hold 2026 love and sharing festival Saturday

Gunwi-gun in Daegu will host the "2026 Gunwi Love and Sharing Festival" on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Cardinal Kim Suhwan Love and Sharing Park and the Yongdae-ri village area, the county announced Tuesday.

The festival is a family-oriented event celebrating the values of love and sharing embodied in the life of the late Cardinal Kim Suhwan, who spent part of his childhood in Gunwi.

This year's slogan — "Love Has Come, WE!" — plays on a friendly association with the name "Gunwi" while incorporating the meaning of "we," conveying the message that one person's love and generosity can extend beyond family and neighbors to the wider community.

The venue will be organized around four themes: Love Workshop, Suhwan Village, Suhwan Exploration Trail and Sharing Square.

At the Love Workshop, visitors can take part in a range of hands-on activities, including a pottery-making program inspired by memories of Cardinal Kim and his father.

Suhwan Village will offer a picnic area, a movie theater, a photo studio, a flea market and a chalk art zone, giving families a relaxed space to linger and enjoy the festival.

Along the Suhwan Exploration Trail, visitors can follow in Cardinal Kim's footsteps through the festival grounds, completing six missions as part of a stamp tour.

In addition, the third Yongdae-ri Dragon and Flower Festival will be held concurrently in the Yongdae-ri Babo Center area that day.

A shuttle bus will run between the Gunwi County Office temporary parking lot and Cardinal Kim Suhwan Love and Sharing Park for visitors' convenience.

"We hope families and neighbors will walk, create and share together in Yongdae-ri, where Cardinal Kim spent his childhood, and naturally experience the meaning of love and sharing," a Gunwi-gun official said.
