E-mart opens pre-orders for salted kimchi cabbage ahead of kimjang season

E-mart announced Wednesday it will accept pre-orders for salted kimchi cabbage to help customers prepare for kimjang, the traditional kimchi-making season. Orders placed through the Order Pick service on the E-mart app from Thursday through Oct. 28 will be available for pickup between Nov. 13 and Dec. 12.

The retailer has increased its supply of standard salted cabbage (20 kilograms per box) — combining Order Pick and Order to Home allocations — from 60,000 to 75,000 boxes compared with last year's pre-order event. Domestic salted cabbage (20 kg per box) will be offered in two separate pre-order rounds, both conducted through Order Pick.

The product normally retails at 49,800 won ($37) per box. In the first round, customers paying with a participating card can purchase it for 29,800 won, while the second round offers a 14,000-won discount, bringing the price to 35,800 won. Shoppers will also earn 3,000 e-money points redeemable like cash at E-mart.

The premium "Golden Salted Cabbage" (20 kg), introduced last year for the first time, will also be available with a 50 percent increase in supply. It is regularly priced at 62,800 won but will be sold at 52,800 won — a 10,000-won discount — when paid in full with a participating card, along with 3,000 e-money points per box.

Seasoned and salted altari radish will also be offered at a discount. E-mart is additionally introducing two kimchi kits for the first time: a "Kimjang Kit" combining 7 kg of salted cabbage with 3 kg of seasoning, and an "Altari Kimchi Kit" pairing 3 kg of salted altari radish with 1 kg of seasoning.
