KT Corp launches dedicated AI line with speeds up to 800Gbps to boost data center connectivity

KT Corp is launching a dedicated AI line service designed to enable high-speed, large-volume data transfers between AI data centers.

KT Corp said Wednesday it will release the dedicated AI line service, which supports bandwidth of up to 800Gbps, to meet growing demand for large-scale data transmission driven by the rapid spread of AI data centers.

The proliferation of generative AI has heightened the importance of ultra-fast, ultra-low-latency networks capable of processing the massive datasets required for AI training and inference in real time. As AI data centers become increasingly distributed across the country, networks that can reliably connect those centers and handle large volumes of data are emerging as critical infrastructure, KT Corp said.

In response, KT Corp has expanded its dedicated line bandwidth from a previous maximum of 100Gbps to 400Gbps and 800Gbps. The company said its 840,000-kilometer nationwide optical cable network and diversified routing capabilities allow it to design optimal shortest-path and dual-path connections between multiple data centers or key nodes.

KT Corp also said it has applied an all-photonics network-based, optical-centric architecture to the dedicated AI line to strengthen its ultra-low-latency characteristics. The technology minimizes optical-to-electrical signal conversions during data transmission, reducing latency. The service routes data according to each customer's environment, enabling fast delivery of large volumes of data.

KT Corp plans to expand adoption of the dedicated AI line among AI data center operators and enterprises building large-scale AI infrastructure. The company said it will continue to strengthen its ultra-fast, ultra-low-latency network services tailored to business-to-business customers.

"As AI data centers and GPU infrastructure continue to expand, the importance of ultra-fast, ultra-low-latency networks will only grow," said Jeon Myeong-jun, head of the enterprise service division at KT Corp's enterprise segment. "Through the dedicated AI line, KT Corp will support customers in rapidly building and scaling large-scale AI transformation infrastructure."
