Cambodian star led 13-7 before falling 18-22; has failed to reach round of 32 in three straight events since 10th career win
Sruong Pheavy of Woori Financial Capital, known as the "Cambodian Express," continued her slump Sunday by falling in the opening round of the LPBA Tour.
Sruong lost to Oh Su-min 18-22 in 26 innings in the women's (LPBA) round of 128 at the 2026-2027 season's fifth tour event — the Jigeum Jal Saneun Bangbeop ZGM NH Nonghyup Card PBA-LPBA Championship — held at the PBA Stadium in Kintex, Goyang, Gyeonggi Province.
She started well, racing out to a 7-0 lead in the first three innings and extending her advantage to 13-7. But her scoring dried up and the momentum shifted. Oh pulled level at 17-17 with three points across the 22nd and 23rd innings, then surged ahead 20-17 with three more in the 25th before closing out the match with two points in the final inning.
Sruong had won the second-tour Hione Resort Championship in June to claim her 10th career LPBA title. Since then, she has fallen in the round of 64 at both the third-tour SY Championship and the fourth-tour Crown Haitai Championship, and this time she could not even clear the round of 128.
In contrast, Kim Ga-young, the all-time LPBA wins leader, cruised into the round of 64 with a dominant 25-5 victory over Kim Seong-eun 2 in just 13 innings, posting an average of 1.923 — the highest among all players who competed that day.
Hida Orie of Japan defeated Son Su-min 21-17, and Kim Bo-mi beat Kim Byeol 20-14. Kang Ji-eun topped Kim Myeong-hwa 21-9, while Kim Se-yeon edged Jeong Hye-bin 22-18. Baek Min-ju, Jang Ga-yeon, Han Ji-eun, Choi Ji-min, Hwang Min-ji and Han Seul-gi also advanced to the round of 64.
The second day of the LPBA round of 128 begins Monday at 11 a.m., featuring defending champion Jeong Su-bin along with Lee Mi-rae, Kim Min-a, Park Jeong-hyeon and Im Jeong-suk. The round of 64 follows the same day at 3:50 p.m.
