Event held at Giheung Elementary School in Yongin and Armed Forces Daejeon Hospital
School fence and hospital cafeteria walls given fresh look
Hankook & Company Group said Monday it held a "Family Mural Painting" volunteer event Saturday at Giheung Elementary School in Giheung-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, and at the Armed Forces Daejeon Hospital in Yuseong-gu, Daejeon.
The event, organized in partnership with the Mil-al Welfare Foundation, marked the group's third mural-painting volunteer activity this year. About 160 employees and their family members took part, coloring pre-designed patterns on walls to brighten spaces used by students and military personnel.
At Giheung Elementary School, participants painted an 82-meter stretch of the outer fence with murals featuring Yongin's mascot character "Joayong" and scenes from all four seasons — spring flower fields, summer water play, autumn reading and winter snow activities, all rendered in vivid colors.
At the Armed Forces Daejeon Hospital, volunteers painted the cafeteria walls with nature scenes including mountains, trees and flowers, alongside everyday images of walking and cycling.
The "Family Mural Painting" initiative has been a family-inclusive volunteer program of Hankook & Company Group since 2022, and this year marks its fifth edition.
"We hope the murals, made with the care of our employees and their families, will bring joy to children on their way to school and energy to soldiers during their time at the hospital," a company official said. "We will continue to carry out volunteer activities that create positive change in local communities through employee participation."
Hankook & Company Group runs programs aimed at ensuring mobility rights and road safety, including vehicle-sharing initiatives, battery support for electric mobility aids and improvements to children's school commute routes. In addition, the group pursues community engagement through activities such as mural painting, sports club talent donations, and banchan preparation and dosirak delivery.
Meanwhile, Hankook & Company Group has been actively promoting a culture of open communication, recently wrapping up the second season of "Go Further, Go Higher Together," a teamwork program designed to foster collaboration among employees. The program is part of a company-wide organizational culture campaign called "Better Together," which launched last year with a focus on building connections and rapport among staff.
