Partnership to cover medical data standardization, AI service development and field testing
Companies to pursue government research projects and hospital-tailored commercialization
KT Corp is teaming up with medical AI specialist Acryl to accelerate the AI transformation of healthcare institutions. The two companies plan to build hospital-tailored business models by broadening their cooperation from medical data standardization through to AI service development.
KT Corp announced Tuesday that it would jointly pursue a medical AI transformation project with Acryl aimed at expanding data utilization and AI service adoption at healthcare institutions. Acryl is an AI infrastructure company with expertise in building medical data platforms and medical AI solutions.
According to KT Corp, AI technology is spreading rapidly across the healthcare sector — moving beyond basic clinical support to encompass data utilization, research, administration and overall hospital operations. As a result, the importance of technical validation to standardize and link dispersed medical data so it can feed into actual medical services has grown.
The two companies aim to jointly develop hospital-tailored AI transformation business models through the partnership, combining KT Corp's integrated capabilities in AI, cloud and data infrastructure with Acryl's medical data and AI technology expertise and hospital deployment experience.
The companies signed the MOU at Acryl's headquarters in Seoul's Seolleung area, with KT Corp enterprise business division head Noh Hyeong-rae and Acryl Chief Executive Park Oe-jin in attendance. Under the agreement, KT Corp and Acryl will work together on medical data standardization and building a foundation for data utilization, joint development and field testing of medical AI technologies and services, and research, commercialization and broader rollout of medical AI.
The two companies plan to pursue joint proposals and field demonstrations at individual healthcare institutions and establish a cooperation framework spanning from technical validation through to full commercialization. Building on that foundation, they will also explore government and public research projects as well as new business opportunities.
In addition, KT Corp unveiled a "medical standardization model" covering everything from hospital-specific infrastructure to data platforms and AI services. The company is already using the model to support AI transformation at tertiary and general hospitals nationwide and plans to expand its application through partnerships with specialized medical partners.
"Acryl has built up the technical framework and field experience to connect the entire process — from linking and utilizing medical data to developing and operating specialized AI models," Park said. "Through this partnership with KT Corp, we will advance our services for the healthcare environment and generate business results, expanding our opportunities in the domestic medical AI market."
"The core of medical AI transformation is connecting the data hospitals hold so it can be used in actual clinical care, research and operations," Noh said. "Through this partnership with Acryl, we will strengthen the foundation for deploying medical AI transformation services in the field and pursue hospital-tailored projects linked to KT Corp's medical standardization model."
