Actor Kim Soo-hyun has asked YouTube to remove the channel Garosero Yeonguso, commonly known as Gaseyon.
Kim's legal team submitted a formal request to YouTube on Oct. 6 to shut down the Gaseyon channel, according to JoongAng Ilbo.
The request cited violations of YouTube's harassment and cyberbullying policy. Ko Sang-rok, an attorney at law firm Phil representing Kim, said investigations had confirmed that Gaseyon defamed and threatened Kim using fabricated evidence, including AI-manipulated audio files. "The channel must be closed as soon as possible to prevent further harm," Ko said.
Kim's legal team had also asked YouTube on Oct. 3 to take down 30 videos the channel had posted related to the matter.
Kim Se-eui, the head of Gaseyon, was indicted in June on charges of defaming Kim Soo-hyun by spreading false information about him last year. He was detained at the time of indictment.
In March last year, Kim Se-eui claimed that Kim Soo-hyun had dated the late Kim Sae-ron while she was still a minor, and that he had pressured her financially to repay debts, driving her to her death.
Police investigations, however, found that the audio files Kim Se-eui had presented as evidence were manipulated using AI, and that the message logs he cited as proof of a relationship with a minor were fabricated from conversations belonging to a third party unrelated to Kim Soo-hyun.
