Resource-sharing platform delivers cost savings and ESG gains
The Korea Land and Housing Corporation (LH) said Tuesday its construction resource sharing platform has generated about 6.5 billion won in cost savings and resource recycling benefits to date.
The platform allows construction materials and other resources brought to a site but left unused or available for reuse to be shared with other sites rather than discarded. It is open not only to LH construction sites but also to private construction companies.
Beyond construction materials, the platform supports the sharing of soil and aggregate, office supplies and flood-control materials. It also features an automatic matching function that connects sites registering surplus resources with sites that need them.
Since the service launched in November last year, 52 construction sites have registered surplus resource information. Through 16 resource-sharing transactions, materials put back to use at other sites included 500,000 cubic meters of soil, 2,348 PE safety barriers and PE drums, 731 meters of temporary fencing and 50 PC safety barriers.
The platform also supports donations. The first donation made through it was a modular housing unit that LH had previously used as an exhibition display at the 2025 Smart Construction, Safety and AI Expo; it was transferred to a local welfare center for people with disabilities. The donation allowed LH to practice resource recycling while also contributing to the local community.
"By ensuring that surplus resources generated at construction sites can be put to use where they are needed, we aim to go beyond cost savings and resource efficiency to contribute to ESG management," said Lee Sang-jo, head of LH's Smart Construction Safety Division. "We will continue to identify outstanding resource-sharing cases, expand participating sites and spread a culture of resource recycling across construction sites."
Meanwhile, LH also operates an integrated monitoring system called "Neulbom A-Eye," which uses AI, Internet of Things sensors and CCTV cameras to detect hazardous conditions at construction sites around the clock and immediately alert site managers.
