Mapo-gu District Mayor Yoo Dong-gyun attended the Joint Showcase of Mapo-gu Senior Welfare Centers on Tuesday afternoon at Art Hall MAC of the Mapo Art Center, where he encouraged elderly residents continuing to pursue new learning and challenges.
The showcase brought together seniors from four welfare centers across the district to share the fruits of their studies, with 11 teams taking the stage in turn to display the skills they had honed.
The event opened on a lively note with a samul janggu (traditional Korean percussion) performance by Ahyeon Silver Welfare Center. District Mayor Yoo offered words of encouragement to the seniors who had prepared for the stage and expressed his gratitude to welfare center staff.
"I cheer on the passion of seniors who engage with their neighbors and take on new endeavors," Yoo said. "We will continue to support them in enjoying vibrant daily lives through a wide range of leisure activities and welfare programs."
