Security support to reach 7,800 Inno-Biz member firms
Cyber insurance link to strengthen incident response, recovery
SK Shielders has joined forces with the Inno-Biz Association and DB Insurance to strengthen cybersecurity capabilities at small and medium-sized enterprises. The three parties plan to build an integrated support framework combining security services and cyber insurance to cover everything from threat prevention and incident response to recovery and compensation.
SK Shielders announced Wednesday that it had signed a three-way MOU with the Inno-Biz Association — formally the Korea Association of Small Business Innovation — and DB Insurance to bolster cybersecurity at small and medium-sized enterprises. The signing ceremony took place Tuesday at SK Shielders' Pangyo office.
The agreement comes as AI-driven advances are making cyberattacks increasingly sophisticated, leaving small and medium-sized enterprises — which tend to have fewer security personnel and less infrastructure — more exposed than larger firms. The three organizations plan to draw on their respective expertise to build an end-to-end support system spanning threat prevention, detection, response, recovery and compensation.
SK Shielders will provide free security consulting and Managed Detection and Response (MDR) services to the roughly 7,800 member companies of the Inno-Biz Association. The company will monitor cyber threats around the clock and support rapid response when incidents occur. It will also hold security seminars to share the latest threat trends and countermeasures.
MDR is a service in which security professionals directly handle everything from threat detection and analysis to response. It allows small and medium-sized enterprises that cannot maintain their own in-house security teams to access professional-grade protection.
SK Shielders delivers its MDR service through Secudium, an AI-based cybersecurity monitoring platform, and Top-CERT, a dedicated incident response unit.
DB Insurance will offer cyber insurance tailored to the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises, helping reduce the financial burden that follows a cyber incident and supporting business recovery. The Inno-Biz Association will guide member companies in using the security services and cyber insurance on offer, and will jointly run programs to raise security awareness and build capabilities.
"As ransomware, supply chain attacks and AI-based attacks spread, the security risk facing small and medium-sized enterprises is growing significantly," said Choi Jae-ho, head of SK Shielders' Cyber Technology Center. "We will help small and medium-sized enterprises build a safer IT environment, drawing on our AI-based MDR service and accumulated incident response experience."
Meanwhile, SK Shielders is also running AI security training for domestic companies, including small and medium-sized enterprises. In May, it launched a training program called "Strengthening Security Capabilities Using Generative AI," aimed at corporate security practitioners. The program covers practical applications of generative AI in core cybersecurity tasks such as security data processing, vulnerability assessment and analysis, and incident detection and response.
