Hankook Tire to supply iON tires for Volkswagen's ID.Polo and ID.Cross

Hankook Tire & Technology announced Wednesday that it will supply its EV-dedicated performance tire line, iON, as original equipment for Volkswagen's next-generation compact electric vehicles, the ID.Polo and ID.Cross.

The ID.Polo and ID.Cross are compact electric vehicles set to lead Volkswagen's strategy to bring electric mobility to the mass market, both developed on the automaker's next-generation EV platform, MEB+. The ID.Polo is the production version of the ID.2all concept car and the electric variant of Volkswagen's iconic compact model, the Polo, while the ID.Cross is a compact electric SUV targeting urban mobility demand.

The ID.Polo will be fitted with the iON Evo summer performance tire in an 18-inch size and the iON iCept winter tire in a 17-inch size. The ID.Cross will receive the iON Evo in both 17-inch and 19-inch sizes.

Both tires incorporate Hankook Tire's EV-specific technology system, iON Innovative Technology, delivering a balanced combination of core electric vehicle performance attributes — low noise, improved mileage, strong grip and low rolling resistance — to support the vehicles' driving performance and efficiency.

Hankook Tire has been expanding its original equipment supply through strategic partnerships with major brands under Volkswagen Group. Last year, the company supplied OE tires for the Porsche electric SUV Macan, the Cupra electric hatchback Born, and the Volkswagen Tiguan and Tayron. This year, it further strengthened its electrification portfolio by supplying the iON Evo to the Cupra Raval.

Meanwhile, Hankook Tire continues to broaden its global customer brand presence through a range of marketing activities, including serving as an official sponsor of the 2026 Ballon d'Or — the world's most prestigious football awards ceremony — for the third consecutive year.
