Incheon's Yeonsu-gu is ushering in a new era of "drone administration" by significantly expanding drone use across key administrative functions, from property tax investigations to illegal building inspections and disaster management.
The district announced Wednesday that it will broaden drone use to cover field administration across the board — including property tax assessment surveys, illegal building inspections and disaster site monitoring — while working to strengthen the practical skills of the civil servants involved.
The district has previously deployed drones primarily at large-scale sites or areas difficult for personnel to access, improving both accuracy and efficiency in those operations.
Building on this policy expansion, the district plans to significantly reinforce hands-on training for civil servants in drone-operating departments.
Job training will be conducted on a practice-focused basis across 46 sessions through late November at the Seunggi Stream drone training ground and various field sites.
Nine departments currently operate drones as part of their work: the Tax Division and Songdo Tax Division handle property tax field investigations; the Architecture Division oversees illegal building guidance and enforcement; the Environmental Conservation Division and Songdo Lifestyle Support Division inspect worksites for fugitive dust emissions; the Parks and Green Space Division and Songdo Urban Management Division manage parks and green areas; the Finance and Accounting Division conducts public asset surveys; and the Safety Management Division carries out field inspections of disaster-risk zones.
"Drones are a valuable smart administration asset that can quickly and precisely assess sites that are difficult for people to reach on foot," District Mayor Lee Jae-ho said. "We will build up our civil servants' operational capabilities, expand tailored use by department, and further strengthen field-centered administrative services that residents can feel firsthand."
