Hyundai Autoever said Thursday it showcased next-generation public safety and security solutions at the 2026 International Security Industry Expo, which opened Wednesday.

Hyundai Autoever is deploying MoBeD, the mobile robot platform developed by Hyundai Motor and Kia's robotics lab, as a patrol robot. The four-wheeled MoBeD is designed with a modular upper structure that allows its top unit to be swapped out and its functions expanded, enabling it to handle a range of on-site needs including patrol, delivery and guidance.

The MoBeD-based patrol robot carries out missions on a set schedule. When it detects an anomaly, it transmits the relevant footage in real time to a control platform. Hyundai Autoever's control platform uses AI to analyze the video and assess the situation, allowing operators to quickly and accurately grasp conditions on the ground and respond without delay.

Hyundai Autoever designed its exhibition space so that visitors can intuitively understand how the solution works and how it can be applied in the field. The booth features live demonstrations of the MoBeD patrol robot and AI anomaly detection in action, while large monitors display case studies of the technology deployed across various public safety settings.

As a global robot systems integrator, Hyundai Autoever supports the full lifecycle of patrol robot deployment — from planning field applications and on-site installation, to stabilizing patrol service operations, integrated control and ongoing maintenance. The company said it aims to go beyond simply supplying robots by offering an integrated operations service optimized for public-sector environments.

The MoBeD Pro, which serves as the foundation for the patrol robot, is equipped with AI-based autonomous driving technology, two lidar sensors and three depth cameras to detect obstacles indoors and outdoors. The depth cameras use infrared-based distance measurement to precisely recognize the shape, size and depth of objects.

The MoBeD platform is a four-wheeled robot built on a DnL (Drive & Lift) eccentric mechanism that allows the chassis height and tilt to be adjusted freely. It supports multiple driving modes and directional changes, and can maintain stable balance on inclined or uneven surfaces and on curbs up to 20 centimeters high. A key feature is its selectable top module, which can be configured for use across a wide range of industrial environments.

"Robots are not a technology to replace police officers — they are partners that help officers make faster, more accurate judgments and responses in the field," said Park Bong-gu, executive director of Hyundai Autoever's business development center. "By organically connecting robots, AI and control technology, we will effectively support public safety operations in the public sector."

Meanwhile, Hyundai Autoever Chief Executive Ryu Seok-moon has been actively engaging with the public. In August, he volunteered as a coding instructor for a day at Hyundai Motor Group's Yangjae headquarters in Seoul, personally demonstrating "vibe coding" — a method of building software through AI natural-language commands — to members of the media.
