More than 110 Golf vehicles and 450 participants gathered at Everland Speedway in Yongin; GTI 50th-anniversary limited edition and new Golf R made their domestic debuts at the event
Volkswagen Korea announced Thursday that it held the 2026 Volkswagen Golf Treffen Korea on Saturday, a festival dedicated to owners of the Golf, Volkswagen's enduring icon.
Now in its fourth year, Golf Treffen Korea was inspired by the global GTI Treffen festival and has established itself as the country's premier gathering for Golf owners. The event brings together owners across generations to share their passion for the model and celebrate Golf culture.
Held at Everland Speedway in Yongin, this year's event drew more than 110 Golf vehicles and over 450 owners and their families from across the country. Marking the 50th anniversary of the GTI, the festival assembled Golf models spanning multiple generations to celebrate half a century of GTI heritage.
The venue showcased a wide range of vehicles — from meticulously preserved stock models to heavily customized builds reflecting each owner's personality. Participants displayed their cars and swapped stories with fellow owners, sharing their affection and enthusiasm for the Golf.
Special models commemorating the GTI's 50th anniversary also took center stage. Volkswagen Korea gave the domestic premiere to both the Dark Moss Limited Edition and the high-performance Golf R, drawing considerable attention from attendees.
The Golf GTI Dark Moss Limited Edition will be released next month in a run of just 100 units for the Korean market. It pairs a GTI 50th-anniversary exclusive exterior color — Dark Moss Green — with a black exterior package comprising a black roof, black side mirrors and a black front strip, creating a bold and refined look. The model is further distinguished by GTI-exclusive dynamic wheel center caps, valve caps and illuminated floor mats.
The new Golf R also made its domestic debut at Golf Treffen Korea. The model is set to return to the Korean market in 2027 — roughly 12 years after the seventh-generation version launched in 2015.
Family-oriented programming ran throughout the venue. Activities and mini-games for younger visitors ensured that owners and their families alike could take part in the festivities.
Particularly popular were the circuit programs that let participants experience the Golf GTI's dynamic performance firsthand — including the Golf Hot Lap, where attendees drove a Golf GTI through a slalom course, and the GTI Taxi, where a professional driver took passengers on a high-speed run through corners.
A Golf contest also generated strong interest. Vehicles representing each generation of the Golf, each with its own story and character, competed for the titles of Best Golf and Best Golf GTI, chosen by on-site vote.
"It is especially meaningful to hold the fourth Golf Treffen Korea with domestic Golf owners in such a significant year — the 50th anniversary of the GTI," said Michael Ant, president of Volkswagen Korea. "We are delighted to have shared the GTI's heritage and the passion of its owners at this event, and we will continue to create opportunities to connect and engage with Golf owners going forward."
Meanwhile, Volkswagen Korea is running the Golf R Road Show 2026 at major showrooms nationwide from Saturday through Nov. 26, giving customers an early look at the new Golf R ahead of its planned domestic launch next year. The company said it will continue to expand customer touchpoints through a range of marketing activities.
