South Korean police are investigating signs that North Korean IT workers secured jobs at domestic companies under false identities.
The Korean National Police Agency's security investigation bureau opened a probe last year after independently detecting one case of an alleged North Korean IT worker using a disguised identity to gain employment, according to Yonhap.
It is the first time a case of a North Korean IT worker infiltrating a South Korean company in this manner has come to light.
The individual is believed to have been hired by a private domestic firm and to have carried out actual software development work.
Police are investigating the amount of money paid to the worker, the method of payment, and the possibility of broader organizational links.
