Samsung Welstory will introduce SANS, an alternative coffee brand, at more than 100 company cafes it operates across South Korea.

According to Samsung Welstory, SANS replicates the taste and aroma of coffee using a blend of 12 natural ingredients — including chicory root and jujube seeds — instead of coffee beans. Samsung Welstory has sold decaffeinated coffee at its in-house cafes since October 2023.

The company decided to bring in the alternative coffee brand to give caffeine-averse customers an additional option, taking into account that even decaffeinated coffee can retain trace amounts of caffeine.

Samsung Welstory developed a powder product called "SANS Blend Stick" together with SANS specifically for use in its company cafes. The cafes will offer seven drinks on a permanent basis using it, including a "SANS Americano" and an oat cream latte.

SANS has been expanding its customer reach since last year by running pop-up stores at venues including Sweet Park, the dessert specialty hall at Shinsegae Department Store's Gangnam branch.

"We plan to expand the rollout of alternative coffee, focusing on company cafes of clients in urban office districts with a high proportion of young working professionals," a Samsung Welstory official said.
