Hyundai Green Food, a comprehensive food company under the Hyundai Department Store Group, said it will run a "Hip Store" pop-up at Hyundai Department Store's Pangyo branch through Thursday, in partnership with the Seongnam Commercial District Revitalization Foundation.
Hip Store is a mutual-growth initiative that Hyundai Green Food and the Seongnam Commercial District Revitalization Foundation have operated since last year. The program centers on helping local food brands with distinctive offerings expand their retail reach, and also provides a range of business consulting services.
Six vendors are taking part in the pop-up, including Sunchang Tteokbokki, a 30-year-old establishment ranked among Seongnam's top three tteokbokki restaurants; The Malang, which specializes in rice-based desserts; and Sunseol, which sells unconventional rice cakes such as pizza seolgi and soft tofu baekseolgi.
Hyundai Green Food will share practical know-how on running an offline store and marketing with vendors that have no prior department store experience. The company also plans to offer consulting on food safety and legal compliance.
"We will expand cooperation with small and midsize local food businesses, drawing on Hyundai Green Food's retail infrastructure and food business expertise," said Park Shin-young, executive director of food planning at Hyundai Green Food.
