Yeongdeungpo-gu in Seoul will run a free car maintenance class program in 2026 to help drivers cut vehicle upkeep costs amid rising prices.
The program runs Nov. 17 and 18, and is designed to build drivers' everyday knowledge of vehicle care and sharpen their ability to handle emergencies on their own. Rather than focusing on lectures alone, the classes center on hands-on practice in which participants work directly with their own vehicles.
On Nov. 17 at 4 p.m., a foundational theory session will be held in the fifth-floor auditorium of the district office annex. Instructors from the Yeongdeungpo-gu chapter of the Seoul Automotive Maintenance Business Cooperative (Kapos) will cover topics including vehicle interior and exterior structure, engine maintenance, abnormal tire wear, and seasonal care tips.
On Nov. 18 at 2 p.m., the program moves to the Dorim-dong retention basin for a hands-on field session, where participants will learn practical maintenance techniques under expert guidance to help reduce their vehicle upkeep costs.
Registration is open to 100 drivers residing in Yeongdeungpo-gu on a first-come, first-served basis. Tuition and course materials are provided free of charge. Applications open Monday via a QR code printed on the program poster, with no in-person visit required.
