66 welfare facilities and organizations to participate at Olympic Park's Meeting Plaza on Oct. 31, covering employment and housing, health and medical care, children and youth, senior citizens, people with disabilities, and women and childcare
Songpa-gu in Seoul will hold the "27th Social Welfare Day Ceremony and 2026 Songpa Welfare Fair" at Olympic Park's Meeting Plaza on Saturday.
Held under the theme "Warm Welfare, Attentive Care, Inclusive City Songpa," the fair will bring together about 60 public and private organizations — including social welfare agencies, facilities and the district's Haengbok Ulta-ri neighborhood association network — to introduce residents to a wide range of welfare services.
Co-hosted by Songpa-gu and the Songpa-gu Community Social Security Council, the fair will provide welfare information across eight fields: employment and housing, health and medical care, children and youth, senior citizens, people with disabilities, women and childcare, case management, and local resources. More than 40 hands-on, promotional and counseling programs will also be offered. The fair runs from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Welfare service experience booths will feature a range of resident participation programs, including a community café, a stress kiosk, a calligraphy calendar workshop with senior artists, a Dubai Chewy Cookie baking session, postcard drawing and recycled keyring making.
A "Health Exercise Experience Zone" run in partnership with Korea National Sport University will offer AI-based fitness assessments and personalized exercise guidance tailored to each participant's age and physical condition. Sports taping demonstrations and other health management programs will also be available, giving residents a chance to check their fitness levels and learn practical everyday exercise routines.
A Goodwill Store booth selling donated clothing, shoes and toys will also operate alongside a food booth run by the neighborhood association network. All proceeds will go toward a "Warm Winter" support project for vulnerable residents in the district.
New this year is "Songtiago Donation Orienteering," a walking program that combines fitness with charitable giving. All participation fees will be donated to the Community Chest of Korea, allowing participants to look after their health while contributing to their neighbors.
A ceremony marking the 27th Social Welfare Day will be held at 2 p.m. that day. The program will open with a performance, followed by an opening declaration, commendations for welfare contributors and congratulatory remarks from guests. A total of 21 social welfare workers who have contributed to welfare development in Songpa will receive commendations.
Songpa-gu District Mayor Seo Gang-seok said he hopes the fair will go beyond public-private cooperation to become an opportunity for residents to enjoy diverse experiences and share welfare information tailored to Songpa. "We will continue to discover and expand various welfare services to improve the well-being of our residents," he said.
