The Korea Racing Authority held a fair-racing pledge ceremony for industry officials at the Let's Run Park Seoul Jockeys' Association on Friday, the organization announced Monday.
The event was organized to strengthen ethical awareness and accountability among racing officials and to prevent unfair conduct.
Attendees received education on racing-related laws and regulations, as well as the sanctions that apply to misconduct. Participants particularly reviewed potential violations that could arise at the racetrack and examined the basic principles required for fair race operations. At the pledge ceremony that followed, officials committed to complying with all applicable laws and regulations and to taking a leading role in preventing unfair conduct, under the principle that "there are no exceptions when it comes to fair competition."
The Korea Racing Authority said it plans to use the event as a springboard to strengthen field-focused prevention education and encourage racing officials to voluntarily embrace a culture of compliance.
"Fairness is the most important value underpinning the racing industry and the starting point of customer trust," Korea Racing Authority Chairman Woo Hee-jong said. "We will do our utmost to ensure that everyone involved in racing upholds the value of fair competition and to create a racing environment that the public can trust and enjoy."
