Hite Jinro announced Monday that it held its fourth-quarter environmental cleanup at Dakmeoreo Beach in Jeju on Thursday.
About 60 people took part in the event, including employees from Hite Jinro's headquarters and Jeju branch, as well as officials from the Jeju Regional Coast Guard, the Jeju Ara Community Welfare Center and Korea Electric Power Corporation's Jeju headquarters.
Hite Jinro conducted a total of four quarterly cleanups at Dakmeoreo Beach this year. The drives brought together 170 participants — Hite Jinro employees and representatives from local organizations including the Jeju Regional Coast Guard, the Jeju Ara Community Welfare Center, Korea Electric Power Corporation's Jeju headquarters and the Korea Polytechnic University Jeju Campus — collecting a combined 4.5 tons of waste.
"We will consistently continue working alongside local organizations to keep our seas clean," a Hite Jinro official said.
