Sales up 26.7% to 650.1 billion won
AM segment sets record sales for 7th consecutive quarter
HD Hyundai Marine Solution said Monday it posted sales of 650.1 billion won ($491 million) and operating profit of 95.7 billion won in the third quarter, up 26.7 percent and 2.2 percent, respectively, from the same period last year.
Sales from its core businesses — the aftermarket (AM) segment covering ship parts and services, and the eco-friendly and digital solutions segment — rose 18.4 percent year-on-year to 356.5 billion won. Bunkering segment sales reached 293.6 billion won, a 38.5 percent increase from the same period a year earlier.
The AM segment recorded sales of 282.7 billion won, up 15.7 percent year-on-year, as sustained demand for vessel and equipment maintenance and repair drove the segment to its highest-ever quarterly sales for the seventh consecutive quarter. The eco-friendly solutions segment posted a 17.3 percent increase to 39.3 billion won over the same period, while the digital solutions segment climbed 48.1 percent to 34.5 billion won, driven by a rise in orders for ship-installed digital solutions amid an expansion in newbuild volumes.
"With the acquisition of Goltens expected to strengthen the competitiveness of our core AM segment, we will continue to expand our presence in the global market," a company official said. HD Hyundai Marine Solution acquired a 100 percent stake in Goltens, a provider of engine services for ships and land-based power generation, earlier this month.
